Community Focus for 2013

Treherbert & District Band closed 2012 with true community focus, maintaining it's ongoing commitment to supporting the local area.
In November, the band participated in a sell out concert at the 680 seat Park & Dare Theatre, and alongside other local performers - including star choir Only Boys Aloud! - raised £8000 for the charity "Help For Heroes". The band then followed up this commitment to service by supporting Remembrance Sunday events in both Gwynfi and Aberdare, something it intends to continue to do annually.
In December, Treherbert then once again supported Porth County Community School's annual carol service at St John's Church, Cymmer, and also continued the tradition of performing Christmas carols for local people on Christmas Eve at The Lion, Treorchy.
This community focus will continue into 2013, with the band henceforth ceasing to perform in competition, and focus instead upon community music making and the development of brass and percussion playing in the local area.
Treherbert & District Band rehearsals will now be held on Thursday evenings between 7:30 and 9:00pm - attendance is open to all, both at rehearsals and the pub quiz which follows immediately afterwards at the Treherbert Conservative Club.
The band has an exciting concert diary for 2013 and remains fully committed to developing further performances throughout 2013.
Junior Band rehearsals also take place on Thursday evenings, between 6:15 and 7:15pm, and are open to all young or aspiring players, aged between 7 and 17 years old. Further information on the Junior Band can be found here
